小学部外教专访 | 不止英语：在Mark的课堂里，遇见艺术、音乐与世界~
他是Mark，学生们都爱叫他Marcus。在枫华的校园里，他是那个能用英语课点燃艺术火花的小学“宝藏外教”;在更广阔的舞台上，他是一位用画笔记录生活、用音乐感知世界的创作者，更是一位热爱中国文化、曾为苏州代言的“网红”教师。

01/跨越山海，相遇讲台
Hello, my name is Mark, though most people call me Marcus. I'm from a small town in the UK called Chesterfield, located in the center of England. I majored in Drama and studied at Sheffield Hallam University. Currently, I'm teaching Primary English at Sino Canada.
大家好，我是 Mark，不过大多数人都叫我 Marcus。我来自英国中部的一个小镇，叫切斯特菲尔德。我的专业是戏剧，毕业于谢菲尔德哈勒姆大学。
If I had to describe my teaching style in three words, they would be: creative, thoughtful, and adaptable. In my lessons, I try to bring creativity, whether in English or art. I also carefully consider how my approach impacts the students—and myself as well. This mindset allows me to adapt effectively, which is essential given the diverse levels of education and the varied feelings children have about learning English in the classroom.
目前我在枫华学校担任小学英语教师。如果用三个词来形容我的教学风格，那就是：有创造力、注重细节，并且灵活应变。在我的课堂上，无论是英语还是美术相关的内容，我都会尝试加入创意元素。同时，我也会仔细思考教学方式对学生——以及对我自己——的影响。这样的理念让我能够灵活调整教学，这一点很重要，因为学生的英语水平各不相同，他们对课堂学习的感受也各异。
02/不止于课堂：当艺术与音乐融入教育
As for a hidden skill—or rather, one of my favorite hobbies—I love drawing and making art. I enjoy painting and drawing, and over the last few years, I've gotten into digital art. I like working on my iPad using an app called Procreate to create digital images and illustrations.
说到“隐藏技能”——其实更算是我的一大爱好——我喜欢绘画和艺术创作。近几年我尤其喜欢数字绘画，经常用 iPad 上的 Procreate 软件来创作数字图像和插画。
I can also play a little of what we call the hand drum in English—a large, circular instrument with a very beautiful sound. Additionally, I play a bit of the didgeridoo, a musical instrument from Australia. It's a long wooden instrument traditionally made and played by Aboriginal Australians. You blow through it, and it produces a deep, resonant sound that's very distinctive.
我还会一点儿“手鼓”——这是一种很大的圆形乐器，音色非常优美。另外，我也会吹一些迪吉里杜管。这是来自澳大利亚的一种乐器，由原住民创造，用木头制成，很长，中间是空的，吹奏时会发出低沉而有共鸣的独特声音。
On the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), I fall under the ISFP type. This means I tend to be logical, creative, and sensitive. I enjoy understanding how things work and I like working with my hands—whether it's through art, crafts, or other practical activities.
在迈尔斯-布里格斯类型指标(MBTI)中，我是 ISFP 型。这意味着我比较注重逻辑、富有创造力，同时也比较敏感。我喜欢弄明白事物运作的原理，也喜欢动手实践，无论是艺术、手工还是其他需要实际操作的事情。
如果教育是一场对话，那么Mark老师正在用自己的方式，让这场对话变得生动而辽阔。
一个好的教育者，或许就像他一样——不仅是知识的传递者，更是生命的分享者。当他用Procreate绘制插画解释英文词汇，当他在课堂即兴敲响手鼓感受语言节奏，当他分享在苏州拍摄时对东方美学的发现，他其实在告诉学生：学习可以跨越学科的边界，连接文化、艺术与生活。
拥有多重爱好的教育者，带给学生的从来不只是技能或兴趣本身，而是一种看待世界的多元视角。当Mark把绘画的创造力、音乐的感知力、戏剧的表现力融入语言教学，他其实是在培养学生一种更深层的能力：如何用不同的“语言”理解并表达自我，如何在对万物好奇中保持成长的弹性。
教育的美好，或许正藏在这种“活出来的课堂”里——当老师真实而丰富地站立在讲台上，学生看见的便不只是英语，还有一个生动的人如何与知识相处、与创造力为伴、与更广阔的世界温柔对话。
